Overview

Water Technology was originally engaged by Aus Civil to prepare designs for a stormwater management plan for an industrial development in Warragul.  Without mitigation the development produced unacceptable offsite flooding issues, and as such a combined wetland / flood retardation system was designed.

The design put forward by Water Technology included:

• An 80m wide floodway along the Hazel Creek, reducing the flood risk of developed conditions to within existing conditions
• Includes a treatment wetland in the south development, and a sedimentation basin and pond for the north development to meet WSUD best practice guidelines
• Development of an attractive wetland system providing high habitat values and potential for the council to replicate the system downstream
• Avoids unacceptable impacts on adjacent properties, provides an appropriate level of flood immunity and achieves water quality objectives in accordance with best practice
