Overview
Water Technology were engaged by the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority to develop a comprehensive understanding of the hydraulic processes operating within the Aire estuary and local floodplain incorporating Lake’s Horden, Costin, Cravin and Calder.
The primary outcome of the study is the development of a detailed understanding of flow characteristics for the drainage lines across the river flats and the interactions between the three lakes, the estuary mouth and the levels of inundation within the lake system during estuary entrance closures and floods.
This information assists the Catchment Management Authority in managing the estuary and the expectation of landholders subjected to inundation.
